A new initiative by YWAM

On November the 20th, the 50th anniversary of World’s Children Day, a new YWAM initiative will be launched by YWAM The Netherlands.

Girl Alert is passionate to give and be a voice for girls. Girls are facing the greatest challenges within our society. Sixty two million girls are not in primary school, every year, an estimated 4 million women and girls are bought and sold worldwide, either into forced prostitution, slavery or forced marriage and young women are hit the hardest by HIV/Aids.

As Girl Alert we want to be an addition to the many ministries facilitated by YWAM focused on girls varying from the shelter homes in Thailand that bring hope and healing to the girls involved in prostitution to the primary schools located in areas in India where a lot more boys than girls are enrolled in primary school.

Our goal:

to advocate on behalf of the girls we work with and share our experiences with decision making leaders at an international level.

The first topic we want to promote is an equal access to primary schools, this also ties in with two of the Millennium Development Goals, initiated by the United Nations. In able to accomplish this, we have strengthened our relationship with eight primary schools run by YWAM in Tanzania, Zambia, Mali and India, all located in areas monitored by the UN, due to a literacy gender inequality of 10 % .

We would love you to join us on this cause! Check out our Girl Alert website to find out what we are doing. Subscribe in order to receive our updates and if you have any ideas that could benefit this project, make sure to let us know!
